MUSIC tuition

Melissa has been an active and dedicated brass teacher for over 15 years. She began her teaching career in her hometown of Ramsey, Cambridgeshire as a student and, upon graduation, has worked as a peripatetic brass and piano teacher for music hubs including Tower Hamlets Arts and Music Education Service (THAMES), Buckinghamshire Music Trust, and Redbridge Music Service. With Independent Music Solutions she also taught as a classroom music specialist for 3 years, designing her own curriculum for Years 3 to 6 (7-11 year olds) delivered at Burbage Junior School.

 

She has owned a thriving private teaching practice since 2011 and now teaches from her home in Hinckley. She has experience preparing students for exams through Trinity, ABRSM, and MTB as well as preparing students for solo performances, auditions, and more. She has experience working with students for whom exams are not a focus and, together, they find a range of repertoire to explore.

 

Melissa teaches a variety of brass instruments (cornet, trumpet, E flat tenor horn, baritone horn, euphonium, and tuba), specialising in low brass. She also teaches beginner piano and music theory.

 

Melissa holds an enhanced DBS certificate.
